Scuppoz describes liquorice as "the black gold of Abruzzo". Its story begins in the mountains, follows the valleys and reaches the Adriatic coast, where liquorice has long been part of the region's culinary heritage.
Long before sugar became widely available, liquorice root was prized for its remarkable natural sweetness. Children were often given pieces of the root to chew as a simple sweet treat — a tradition that reflects both the ingredient's unique flavour and its place in local history.

Tasting Notes
The nose reveals elegant aromas of pure liquorice with delicate herbal undertones.

Our Recommendation
We love Scuppoz Liquirizia served ice cold in a small liqueur glass, but it is equally delicious poured over premium vanilla ice cream. The contrast between the cold, creamy ice cream and the rich balsamic notes of liquorice creates a wonderfully indulgent Italian dessert.
