The premium Italian extra virgin olive oil Monocultivar Biancolilla PGI is produced from the olives of this typical variety of central western Sicily (Ribera and Caltabellotta), Biancolilla, which are hand-picked between 1-15th October from olive groves facing south, at 150-250 meters above sea level. The plant is very rustic and has a great yield, which is why it is widely used for oil production. Its particular name derives from the fact that the fruits, during maturation, go from very light green to purple. In nature, it thrives even in very arid territories thanks to the characteristic of its roots: they expand very deep and this allows them to reach the necessary nutrients.
The Biancolilla, a very ancient variety gives life to a very aromatic extra virgin oil. It is considered one of the oldest and best preserved varieties of all the native cultivars in Italy.
