Cannonau is the name of the Grenache variety used on the island of Sardinia. According to the latest research the variety originated on the island and spread in the northern-northwestern part of th Mediterranean basin from there.

The Salana Cannonau of Vigneti Zanatta is a laidback, but intense wine with a persistant taste of tobacco and plums.
