It is the winery's white "cru", produced for the first time in 2004 from Trebbiano grapes harvested from a 50-year-old plantation chosen for the quality of its grapes. The age of the vineyard, its north-eastern exposure, moderate temperature range and excellent summer ventilation give this wine complexity and elegance, in which minerality and rich flavours stand out. This Trebbiano is certainly an expression of terroir and tradition.
Straw yellow hue, an elegant succession of floral, fruity and aromatic herb notes in the nose. Exceptionally long finish with a hint of minerality.
Excellent with fish-based dishes, for example monkfish, as well as with mushroom-based dishes or grilled polenta and cheese.
Trebbiano d'Abruzzo or Abruzzese should not be confused with Trebbiano Toscano (which is known in France as Ugni Blanc and is the base wine for Armagnac and Cognac) or Trebbiano Modenese (also known as Trebbianina, which is the base wine for Modena balsamic vinegar).
It has milder acids than Toscano, it can sometimes be a bit lazy, but it is round and fruity and when well made, it yields a particularly good drinking wine.
To qualify as Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC, the wine must contain at least 85% of three grape varieties (either alone or together): Trebbiano Abruzzese, Trebbiano Toscano and Bombino Bianco.
